Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1

Speak with Riju About the Missing Thunder Helm

After completing the Lightning Temple and activating Riju as the Sage of Lightning, visit Riju at her throne in Gerudo Town. She reveals the sacred Thunder Helm — a legendary Gerudo artifact passed down through chieftains that grants total lightning immunity — has been stolen. She tracked the thieves, a group of Yiga Clan operatives, east into the Gerudo Canyon, but cannot leave Gerudo Town to pursue them personally.

2

Track the Thieves into Gerudo Canyon

Head east from Gerudo Town into the canyon system. Follow a trail of dropped Mighty Banana peels (the Yiga Clan's signature snack) and disturbed earth marking the path the thieves took. The canyon narrows and becomes more dangerous as you go deeper — watch for Yiga Footsoldiers disguised as regular travelers who attack when you walk past. Each footsoldier drops a clue about the hideout's location deeper in the canyon.

3

Assault the Yiga Hideout

The Yiga group has established a temporary camp in a canyon alcove, guarded by three footsoldiers and a Blademaster with the Thunder Helm placed prominently at the center of camp as a trophy. Approach from above — paraglide from the canyon rim to get behind the Blademaster before the footsoldiers can react. Defeat the Blademaster first to prevent him from using the Thunder Helm's lightning powers against you, then clear the footsoldiers.

4

Return the Thunder Helm to Riju

Bring the recovered Thunder Helm back to Riju in Gerudo Town. She examines it carefully to confirm it is undamaged, then addresses the assembled Gerudo warriors. As the rightful guardian of the helm, she says that Link has earned the right to borrow it — she places the Thunder Helm on Link's head, granting permanent lightning immunity for all of Link's subsequent adventures. This immunity makes Vah Naboris-style lightning storms completely safe to traverse.
