Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Step 1: Enter Daumikis Shrine in the Depths region and immediately stop.
- A Gloom Hand cluster — five disembodied hands crawling across the floor — patrols near the entrance.
- These are among the most dangerous enemies in TotK: their gloom attacks permanently reduce your maximum hearts until you rest at a surface-level cooking pot or bed.
- Do not engage them in standard melee.
- Step 2: Retreat to the entrance corridor where you have distance.
- Equip bomb arrows or bomb flower-fused arrows.
- Each Gloom Hand requires two direct bomb arrow hits to destroy.
- Fire at the nearest hand first — the explosion staggers adjacent hands, giving you time to reload.
- Work systematically: destroy the two closest hands, then the center hand, then the two far hands.
- Five hands times two arrows equals ten bomb arrows minimum — bring extra in case you miss.
- Step 3: If any Gloom Hand gets close (within 3 meters), it lunges and grabs Link, draining hearts and applying gloom damage.
- Emergency escape: attach a Zonai Flame Emitter to your shield before entering the shrine.
- When a hand lunges, raise your shield — the flame emitter creates a fire burst that forces all nearby hands to recoil for 4 seconds.
- Step 4: After destroying all five Gloom Hands, the arena goes briefly quiet.
- Then a dark vortex forms in the center of the room, and Phantom Ganon materializes — a spectral figure wielding a massive sword with devastating reach.
- This is the real fight.
- Phantom Ganon has three attacks: a horizontal sword sweep (dodge with backflip), a downward slam (dodge with sidestep), and a teleporting lunge (watch for the red flash before it teleports).
- Step 5: The key to defeating Phantom Ganon is targeting its glowing chest core with arrows.
- When Phantom Ganon raises its sword for the slam attack, its chest core is exposed for about 2 seconds.
- Fire an arrow directly at the core — a hit staggers Phantom Ganon and forces it to one knee for 6 seconds.
- Sprint in and deliver your strongest melee combo during this vulnerability window.
- Step 6: Three successful core-hit-and-melee cycles defeat Phantom Ganon.
- It dissolves into gloom particles and drops a Gloom Sword (fused with dark energy, high attack but drains your hearts over time).
- The altar materializes past the Phantom Ganon spawn point.
- Claim the Light of Blessing.
- Abilities needed: No shrine abilities required — this is a pure combat shrine.
- Pro tip: Bring Sun-Delica meals (made from Sundelions) to the fight.
- These restore gloom-damaged hearts, and since both the Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon inflict gloom, having three or four Sun-Delica meals can save your run from becoming unrecoverable.
