Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Step 1: Enter Gasas Shrine in the Depths region and prepare for a combat encounter in near-total darkness against two Shadow Bokoblins — elite Depths-exclusive variants that are significantly faster and more aggressive than their surface counterparts.
- Stock at least 6 arrows and 5+ Brightbloom Seeds before entering.
- Their attacks inflict gloom damage that permanently reduces your maximum heart count (only recoverable by eating Sundelion-based meals or returning to the surface).
- Step 2: Immediately upon entering, throw a Brightbloom Seed onto the floor near the arena's center.
- The seed blooms into a light source that illuminates approximately a 10-meter radius.
- Shadow Bokoblins are nearly invisible in total darkness — without the Brightbloom light, you cannot see their approach until they are already swinging.
- The light also weakens their aggression — when illuminated, their detection radius shrinks from 15 meters to about 8 meters, and they attack less frequently.
- Step 3: Two Shadow Bokoblins emerge from the darkness at the arena's far edges.
- They are faster than standard Bokoblins, closing distance quickly with a hunched sprinting animation.
- Their gloom-infused melee swings deal moderate damage plus permanent heart reduction — avoiding all contact is critical.
- Do not trade hits with these enemies under any circumstances.
- Step 4: Use ranged attacks as your primary strategy.
- Three arrow headshots kill each Shadow Bokoblin.
- Position yourself near the lit Brightbloom Seed and wait for a Bokoblin to enter the illuminated area.
- Aim for the head — body shots require five arrows each instead of three.
- Fire in quick succession; the first headshot staggers the Bokoblin for 1 second, giving you time to land the second and third shots before it recovers.
- Step 5: If both Bokoblins rush you simultaneously and you cannot maintain ranged distance, switch to a two-handed weapon and execute a spinning attack (hold Y).
- The wide spin arc hits both Bokoblins at once, knocking them back approximately 3 meters.
- Immediately back away toward the Brightbloom light after the spin — do not attempt follow-up melee combos.
- Reset to ranged attacks once you have distance.
- Step 6: Once both Shadow Bokoblins fall, they drop Shadow Bokoblin Horns (a rare Fuse material that adds gloom damage to weapons — powerful but inflicts gloom on you while equipped).
- The arena lights up partially and the altar becomes visible at the far wall.
- Step 7: Claim your Light of Blessing.
- Hidden chest: After the fight, throw another Brightbloom Seed toward the arena's north wall.
- A chest sits in a dark alcove containing a Pristine Short Sword (25 attack power, no durability penalty — a Depths-exclusive weapon variant).
- Ability needed: No shrine abilities required.
- Brightbloom Seeds are essential for visibility and reducing enemy aggression.
- Pro tip: If you have a Light Emitter Zonai device, activate it before the fight — it provides continuous 360-degree illumination that moves with you, eliminating the need to throw multiple Brightbloom Seeds and keeping both enemies visible at all times.
