Maren's Tip
Every enemy type has a weakness. Fire enemies melt with ice, ice enemies with fire. Gibdos are vulnerable to fire and lightning — stock those arrows!
Description
White-Maned Lynels are the first tier where the headshot-mount combat system becomes mandatory rather than optional. Their attack speed makes flurry-rush-only strategies too inconsistent. The face weak point is anatomically precise — the glowing area between the horns and above the mouth. Arrows must hit this zone specifically for the full stagger; shoulder or neck hits do not trigger mount. The Lynel Mace Horn is the superior Fuse material over the Saber Horn for damage-per-weapon-slot ratio at this tier.
Weakness
Face — any arrow hit to the face triggers a 4-second stagger and enables mounting. The mount phase uses no weapon durability. Perfect-dodge timing: dodge at the instant Lynel's claw begins descending, not when it reaches peak height.
How to Beat White-Maned Lynel (Combat Master)
The headshot-mount cycle: shoot the face, trigger stagger, mount immediately, swing 8-10 times using your best weapon (no durability used during mount), dismount, reposition, repeat. The cycle can be maintained indefinitely. Attack patterns to learn: (1) charge rush — dodge sideways at the last moment; (2) triple fireball barrage — shoot the center fireball back with a parry shield; (3) ground shockwave spin — jump to avoid. Flurry rush is a backup, not primary strategy — the mount cycle is more damage-efficient. Bring Mighty food (Attack Up Lv 3) and Tough food (Defense Up Lv 2) for the fight.
