100% Completion Guide — Full Clear Checklist

TotK's 100% completion is one of the most ambitious in Zelda history — 152 shrines, 900 Korok Seeds, 139 side quests, 58 side adventures, and every dungeon cleared. This guide breaks down every category required for full completion and the most efficient approach to each.

What Counts as 100%

The in-game adventure log (Sensor+ → Hero's Path) doesn't display a percentage. Instead, check your completion by category:

Main Story

  • [ ] All 5 Temples completed (Wind, Water, Fire, Lightning, Spirit)
  • [ ] Hyrule Castle — Gloom's Hand + Phantom Ganon + Ganondorf final boss
  • [ ] Dragon's Tears — all 12 memories collected (Light Dragon / Geoglyph questline)
  • [ ] Master Sword obtained (from Light Dragon after 12 memories)

Shrines — 152 Total

  • [ ] All 152 Shrines completed and Lights of Blessing claimed
  • [ ] Includes all Rauru's Blessing shrines (combat or puzzle-free — chest only)
  • [ ] All 4 Dragon's Tears shrine-revealing memories (automatically count if memories collected)

Tracking: Your Shrine count shows in the adventure log. 152/152 = complete.

Korok Seeds — 900 Total

  • [ ] All 900 Korok Seeds found and traded (or held)
  • [ ] Hestu's Gift (golden poop) — awarded by Hestu when you bring him all 900 seeds

Note: 441 seeds are needed to max out all inventory upgrades. The remaining 459 are "for" Hestu's Gift. Most players never collect all 900 — it's the most time-consuming single task in the game.

Hestu's Gift: A Golden Poop statue. Purely a trophy item.

Side Quests — 139 Total

Side Quests are NPC-given tasks that appear in the adventure log:

High-Priority Quest Chains (Dense story content)

  • [ ] Mayoral Election (Hateno Village) — 4 quests
  • [ ] Lurelin Village Restoration — 3 quests
  • [ ] Tarrey Town / Hudson Publishing — 6+ quests
  • [ ] Stable Trotters quest (Great Fairy chain) — 4 quests
  • [ ] Gloom-Borne Illness (Kakariko) — 1 quest
  • [ ] Dragon's Tears — 12 memories (counts as side quest chain)

Regional Quests

Each major settlement has 3-8 side quests:

  • Rito Village: 4 quests
  • Zora's Domain: 5 quests
  • Goron City: 3 quests
  • Gerudo Town: 6 quests
  • Kakariko Village: 5 quests
  • Hateno Village: 6 quests
  • Tarrey Town: 4+ quests

Best approach: Complete all quests in a region before moving on. Sensor+ set to NPC helps surface quest givers you've missed.

Side Adventures — 58 Total

Side Adventures are the extended quest chains (equivalent to BotW's DLC quests):

Major Side Adventure Chains

  • [ ] A Home For All (Tarrey Town rebuild)
  • [ ] Impa and the Geoglyphs (Dragon's Tears)
  • [ ] The Search for Kilton's Brother (Koltin quest chain)
  • [ ] Hudson Publishing (book collection chain)
  • [ ] The Stable Trotters (Great Fairy unlock chain)
  • [ ] The Goddess Statues investigation
  • [ ] Sage companion side adventures (4 — one per Sage)
  • [ ] Robbie's Research (Hateno → Depths chain)

Note: Side Adventures are longer than side quests and usually cross multiple regions. Complete these alongside regional exploration rather than backtracking later.

Lightroots — 120 Total

Each Lightroot in the Depths corresponds to a shrine above ground (mirror map):

  • [ ] All 120 Lightroots activated
  • Why: Lightroots reveal the Depths map, provide safety beacons, and are required for full exploration credit
  • Full Depths illumination also makes Zonaite farming and Poe collection manageable

Tracking: Depths map — illuminated areas = Lightroots activated. Dark areas = unexplored.

Bubbulfrogs — 147 Total

  • [ ] All 147 Bubbulfrogs defeated
  • Required for Koltin's full reward chain (see Koltin Guide)
  • Each Bubbulfrog is one-time per cave — they don't respawn

Tracking: Compendium entry for Bubbulfrog shows how many you've caught.

Armor — Full Compendium

For true completionists, collecting every armor set:

  • [ ] All purchasable armor sets (Stealth, Snowquill, Desert Voe, Flamebreaker, Zora, etc.)
  • [ ] All hidden armor sets (Barbarian x3 labyrinths, Mystic from Koltin, Gloom Resist from Depths)
  • [ ] Amiibo armor (Fierce Deity, Champion's Tunic, Soldier's Armor — Amiibo required)

Compendium — 226 Total Entries

The Hyrule Compendium fills as you photograph creatures, materials, weapons, and enemies:

  • [ ] All 226 compendium entries photographed
  • Includes all enemies, materials, weapons, equipment, and creatures
  • Easiest method: Photograph one of each enemy type on sight. Never skip a new enemy type.

Compendium categories:

  • Creatures: 79 entries (bugs, frogs, lizards, birds, fish)
  • Monsters: 86 entries (all enemy types including variants)
  • Materials: 46 entries
  • Equipment: 15 entries

100% Efficient Approach — By Phase

Early Game (Hours 1-20)

  • Complete Great Sky Island
  • Unlock all 4 core abilities
  • Activate Lookout Landing → get Camera
  • Start Dragon's Tears (Impa in Kakariko)
  • Visit all 5 dungeon-related regions (talk to all Sages)

Mid Game (Hours 20-60)

  • Complete all 5 Temples in order (see Temple Order Guide)
  • Sweep each region's shrines after completing its temple
  • Collect Korok Seeds by region systematically
  • Complete all region side quests before leaving
  • Farm Bubbulfrogs in every cave you enter

Late Game (Hours 60-100)

  • Clear Hyrule Castle and final boss
  • Fill remaining Shrines (Sensor+ shrine tracking sweep)
  • Lightroot sweep in the Depths
  • Koltin chain completion
  • Remaining side quests and side adventures

Post-Game (Hours 100+)

  • Remaining Korok Seeds (most tedious — save for last)
  • Full Compendium photography
  • Remaining armor upgrades
  • Hestu's Gift (900th Korok Seed)

Useful Tools for 100%

  • Sensor+: Switch targets constantly — Shrine, Korok, Cave, Bubbulfrog, NPC
  • Hero's Path: Shows movement history — identifies areas you haven't explored
  • Adventure Log: Tracks completion by category — check regularly
  • Compendium: Shows missing entries — identifies what you haven't photographed

Quick Tips

  • Never skip a cave — every cave has at most 1 Bubbulfrog, usually ore deposits, and often a chest. The time investment is always worth it.
  • Side quests before leaving regions — backtracking is the biggest time waste in 100% runs. Complete everything in a region before moving on.
  • Korok Seeds are last — the 900 Korok grind is best done after everything else. A dedicated Korok sweep with Sensor+ Korok tracking at the end is faster than interspersing it throughout.
  • Adventure Log discipline — check the adventure log every play session. It shows incomplete side quests and adventures by location, surfacing things you missed.
  • Estimated time: 200-300 hours for a genuine 100% run (all 900 Koroks, all 152 shrines, all 139 side quests, all 120 Lightroots).
