All Akkala Shrines Guide — Akkala Highlands & East Akkala TotK
All Akkala Shrines Guide — Tears of the Kingdom
The Akkala region covers the rugged northeastern corner of Hyrule: the Akkala Highlands, East Akkala coast, Skull Lake, and the famous Akkala Ancient Tech Lab perched on a remote peak. It contains 16 shrines across varied terrain — from plains combat trials to elevated highland puzzle shrines.
Akkala has no single elemental hazard like Eldin's fire or Hebra's cold. The main challenge is navigation — the terrain is mountainous and remote, with several shrines requiring significant climbing or aerial approach. The Akkala Citadel Ruins Chasm provides Depths access to the Abandoned Akkala Mine below.
Preparation Before Akkala Shrines
No mandatory resistance food. Akkala has no extreme temperature zones. Bring standard combat supplies instead.
Bring:
- High-durability weapons (Akkala combat shrines are demanding)
- Shock-resist food or Rubber armor for the electric Construct combat trial
- 30+ arrows (ranged combat useful on the highland terrain)
- Bomb Flowers (ore formations blocking some shrine paths)
- Zonai Boards + Fans (useful for reaching elevated shrine entrances)
Fast travel anchor: Activate the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower early. Approach from the southeast ridge (not the front face) for an easier climb. Once active, it provides altitude launch for all northeastern Akkala shrine hunting.
Complete Akkala Shrine List
1. Kyokugon Shrine — "Alignment of the Circles"
Location: Akkala Highlands — coordinates (4291, 2317, 0188) Puzzle Type: Ultrahand / shape alignment Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
A shape-matching shrine where circular objects must be rotated and aligned with target outlines. The challenge is understanding the three-dimensional rotation controls — each object needs correct facing AND position.
Tips:
- Use the right stick to rotate and ZL to lock position — practice on the first room's simpler object before tackling the complex final shape
- The circles snap into alignment when very close — trust the haptic feedback
- Room 2 has a hidden chest behind the alignment target wall — look before submitting the shape
2. Domizuin Shrine — "Suspend and Transfer"
Location: Akkala Highlands, southwest of Skull Lake Puzzle Type: Ultrahand / hooks and chains Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
A chain and suspension shrine — Ultrahand hook objects must be connected via chains to transfer weight across gaps. The mechanic introduces suspended platforms that sway under load.
Tips:
- Attach chains to the anchor point FIRST before adding the platform — building bottom-up is more stable
- The suspension needs to bear Link's weight — test each suspended structure before walking on it
- The final room requires a chain-bridge long enough to span the gap — connect multiple chain links end-to-end
3. Akkala Plateau Shrine — Ultrahand Puzzle
Location: Akkala Plateau, central elevated area Puzzle Type: Ultrahand exploration Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
A standard construction shrine on the Akkala Plateau. Multiple Ultrahand objects must be combined to create paths and activate switches. Accessible early in the region — a good warm-up for harder Akkala shrines.
Tips:
- The Plateau shrine has wide-open rooms — use the space to build long structures without wall interference
- Look for a second chest in the upper alcove before taking the altar
- Combine the available plank and cylinder to create a rolling ramp for the final pressure plate
4. Jochisiu Shrine — Shock Construct Combat Trial
Location: East Akkala, near the coastline Puzzle Type: Combat (Shock Construct) Difficulty: ★★★★☆
One of Akkala's hardest shrines — an electric Shock Construct combat trial. The Construct uses lightning attacks, area paralysis, and shield charges. Metal weapons conduct electricity back at Link.
Tips:
- Equip Rubber Armor or cook shock-resist food before entering. The Shock Construct's paralysis attacks are lethal without resistance.
- Wooden weapons only — fuse a wooden stick to your highest-attack base for the safest loadout
- The Construct's core is vulnerable during its charge-up animation — hit it with Bomb Flower arrows
- Staying mobile is the priority — the Construct's paralysis field has limited range
5. Tamusa Shrine — Rauru's Blessing
Location: Akkala region — surface Shrine Quest reward Puzzle Type: Rauru's Blessing Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆
A blessing shrine unlocked by completing an outdoor Shrine Quest challenge. No puzzle inside — walk to the altar for the Light of Blessing.
6. Maoikes Shrine — "Laser Focus"
Location: Akkala Highlands, north of Akkala Citadel Ruins Puzzle Type: Ultrahand / laser deflection Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
A laser deflection shrine where reflective panels must be angled to redirect laser beams into target receptors. Multiple beams must be aligned simultaneously in later rooms.
Tips:
- Mirrors rotate precisely — use small angle adjustments rather than large sweeps
- The second room requires two mirrors working in tandem — align the farther mirror first, then adjust the closer one
- Bomb Arrows stun the Construct guarding the final room — bypass combat entirely if preferred
7. Akkala Ancient Tech Lab Shrine — Rauru's Blessing
Location: Peak of the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab mountain, far northeast Akkala Puzzle Type: Rauru's Blessing (requires accessing the Tech Lab area) Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆
Requires reaching the isolated Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. No puzzle once inside. The chest contains a unique item from the Tech Lab area.
Tips:
- The Tech Lab itself is worth visiting for NPC content and lore
- Approach the Tech Lab peak from the south ridge for the most manageable ascent
- Ulri Mountain Tower launch → glide northeast is the fastest approach
8. Isu Shrine — Bokoblin and Stalnox Combat
Location: East Akkala, near Skull Lake Puzzle Type: Combat (Bokoblin + Stalnox) Difficulty: ★★★☆☆
A combat gauntlet shrine. Wave 1: standard Bokoblin group. Wave 2: Stalnox mini-boss with full health. The Stalnox requires targeting the eye in the socket.
Tips:
- Focus down the Bokoblins in Wave 1 quickly — conserve arrows for the Stalnox
- The Stalnox eye: headshot with an arrow while the eye is in the socket for massive damage
- When the Stalnox kneels after taking eye damage, attack the eye on the ground — highest DPS window
- Bomb Flowers flung at the Stalnox body stagger it and knock out the eye simultaneously
9. Serosik Shrine — Easy Ultrahand
Location: Akkala Highlands, southeast area Puzzle Type: Ultrahand (easy) Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆
One of Akkala's easiest shrines — a beginner-level Ultrahand puzzle. Good early Akkala shrine for players just entering the region.
Tips:
- The solution is a single-piece bridge across the first gap
- Don't over-engineer — the minimal solution is always correct in easy shrines
- Look up after crossing — a chest is above the entrance door
10. Momosik Shrine — Rauru's Blessing
Location: Akkala region surface — Shrine Quest area Puzzle Type: Rauru's Blessing Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆
Blessing shrine requiring completion of an outdoor Shrine Quest. Walk to altar.
11. Akkala Span Shrine — Bokoblin Combat
Location: Near the Akkala Span bridge, northeast Akkala Puzzle Type: Combat (Bokoblin group) Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
A mid-difficulty combat shrine with a Bokoblin group including Blue and Black variants. The arena has elevated platforms the Bokoblins use for ranged attacks.
Tips:
- Clear the elevated Bokoblins first — their arrow fire interrupts melee on the ground
- Use the arena's pillars as cover when taking fire
- Fuse a Molduga Jaw or Lynel Horn for one-shot capability on Black Bokoblins
12. Mogawak Shrine — "Power of Water"
Location: Near a water feature in southwest Akkala Puzzle Type: Ultrahand / water / hydro-lift Difficulty: ★☆☆☆☆
A water-powered shrine where buoyancy and flow mechanics lift platforms. Redirect water flow using Ultrahand to raise Link's platform.
Tips:
- Water lifts objects proportional to their surface area — wider platforms rise faster
- The shrine's hidden chest is under the water surface — swim down before finishing
- The Zonai pipe valve can be rotated with Ultrahand to change flow direction entirely
13. Watusushi Shrine — "Ascend Ceiling Shortcut"
Location: Akkala Highlands, elevated terrain Puzzle Type: Ascend (ceiling traversal) Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
A creative shrine built entirely around Ascend through ceiling surfaces. Multiple rooms have false ceilings that Link can phase through to access upper levels without visible staircases.
Tips:
- Every ceiling in this shrine is potentially an Ascend surface — test them all
- Room 2 shortcut: Ascend through the floor of the walkway above you instead of using the ramp
- The chest is in the basement — use the ledge above, then drop through
14. Naborwak Shrine — Combat Trial
Location: Akkala, mid-region Puzzle Type: Combat trial Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
A medium combat trial shrine. Single Construct with moderate attack patterns. Good practice for players preparing for the harder Jochisiu shock trial.
Tips:
- Standard combat: shield-parry the Construct's projectile, attack the core after each parry
- Flurry Rush opportunity: when the Construct charges forward, dodge sideways at the last second
- The chest after combat contains a weapon material worth equipping immediately
15. Ukuku Shrine — Multi-Stage Hard Puzzle
Location: East Akkala, northeast area Puzzle Type: Ultrahand (multi-stage, hard) Difficulty: ★★★★☆
Akkala's most complex puzzle shrine — three stages where each room builds on the previous. Room 3 requires combining techniques from rooms 1 and 2 simultaneously.
Tips:
- Room 1 introduces the core mechanic — master it before moving on
- Room 2 adds a timing element — the moving platform sync window is about 2 seconds wide
- Room 3 solution: build a composite structure using both rooms' objects together
- The shrine's second chest is inaccessible until room 2 is solved — revisit the earlier room after unlocking the gate
16. Maoikes (Lightroot Mirror — Reference)
The Depths lightroot mirror for the Maoikes area is Sekikam Lightroot. Activate it for the Akkala Depths fast travel network and Abandoned Akkala Mine access.

Akkala Shrine Strategy by Area
Akkala Citadel Area
The Akkala Citadel Ruins are the region's hub. Three shrines cluster near the citadel — accessible from the Akkala Citadel Ruins Chasm entry. The elevated citadel terrain provides visibility of surrounding shrine locations.
Akkala Highlands
Kyokugon, Domizuin, Akkala Plateau, Maoikes, Watusushi, and Ukuku form a cluster across the highlands. Work west-to-east for natural progression.
Access route: Ulri Mountain Tower launch → glide west across the highlands plateau.
East Akkala Coast
Isu, Akkala Span, and Serosik form the coastal cluster. Lower elevation and more accessible than the highlands. Skull Lake serves as the navigation landmark here.
Remote Northeast
The Ancient Tech Lab shrine and Momosik are the most isolated shrines in Akkala. Save these for a dedicated northeast sweep after completing the rest of the region.
Akkala and the Depths
The Abandoned Akkala Mine in the Depths below the highlands is one of the best Zonaite farming locations in the game. Activate the Raknaeku Lightroot cluster first for safe ground and fast travel.
With all 16 Akkala surface shrines activated, you have a near-complete fast-travel network for both the surface and the Depths zone beneath it.
