Faron Depths Guide

The Faron Depths lies beneath the Faron region — the lush jungle and coastal zone in southern Hyrule. It's one of the quieter Depths regions with low enemy density and no elemental hazards, but it features some of the best rare material drops in the Depths due to the Faron-specific ore deposits that sometimes yield Opals and other coastal gems. For players focused on resource farming in a low-pressure environment, Faron Depths is ideal.

Entry Points

| Chasm | Surface Location | Notes | |-------|-----------------|-------| | Faron Grasslands Chasm | South Faron, near Lake Hylia | Main entry, safest approach | | Lurelin Village Chasm | Near Lurelin Village | Coastal east access | | East Faron Chasm | East Faron near Popla Foothills | Eastern entry | | Dracozu River Chasm | Along Dracozu River | Central Faron access |

Lightroots

Faron Depths has 6 lightroots spread across the jungle floor zone:

| Lightroot | Surface Mirror | Notes | |-----------|---------------|-------| | Faron Grasslands Lightroot | Faron Grasslands shrine | First/easiest to reach | | Lurelin Mirror Lightroot | Near Lurelin Village | Coastal zone | | Lake Hylia Depths Lightroot | Below Lake Hylia | Partially flooded area | | Dracozu Depths Lightroot | Below Dracozu River | Central zone | | East Faron Lightroot | East Faron surface | Near Popla shrine mirror | | South Faron Lightroot | South Faron cliffs | Furthest south |

Notable Features

Lake Hylia Depths (Partially Flooded)

The zone directly beneath Lake Hylia has a shallow flooded area. Unlike the Lanayru Depths' deep underwater sections, this is wading depth — you can walk through without swimming. Useful for:

  • Rare Opal deposits on the lake floor
  • Hidden Poe clusters near submerged ruins

Dragon's Tears Geoglyph Mirror Zone

The famous Necluda Dragon's Tears geoglyph (Zelda's first geoglyph, near Kakariko) has its underground mirror visible in Faron Depths as a large geological formation that roughly traces the shape. Not functional — purely visual — but striking.

Ancient Ruins Complex

Faron Depths contains one of the largest ruined Zonai complexes in any Depths region — a multi-story stone structure with multiple Poe clusters inside. The upper floors (reachable via Ascend) have 3 Medium Poes and a chest with Crystallized Charges.

Mining

| Location | Yield | |----------|-------| | Faron Grasslands outpost | 8–12 Zonaite, occasional Opal | | Lake Hylia subfloor | 6–10 Zonaite, frequent Opal | | East Faron outpost | 10–14 Zonaite | | Ruins complex | 4–8 Zonaite (embedded in walls) |

Special resource: Faron Depths ore deposits have a notably higher Opal drop rate than other regions — approximately 1 Opal per 3–4 mining nodes vs 1 per 8–10 in other Depths zones. If you need Opals for armor upgrades (Zora armor, etc.), Faron Depths is the preferred farming location.

Poe Farming

Estimated per-run yield: 45–65 Poes.

Best Poe spots:

  • Ancient ruins interior — 3 Medium Poes (worth 5 each)
  • Corridor between Grasslands and Lake Hylia lightroots — 8–10 Small Poes along the path
  • Submerged ruins near Lake Hylia — 2 Medium Poes hidden in underwater structures

Enemy Overview

Faron Depths has lighter combat requirements than most Depths zones:

| Enemy | Frequency | Counter | |-------|-----------|---------| | Bokoblin Skeleton | Common | Fire/Ice/Shock arrows | | Lizalfos Skeleton | Occasional | Fire arrows (faster kill) | | Construct Worker | Mining outposts only | Any weapon |

No igneo, electric, or ice variants in Faron Depths. Basic elemental arrows handle all encounters.

Tips

  • Opal priority — If you're trying to upgrade Zora Armor or other Opal-heavy sets, the Faron Depths is your most efficient source
  • Combine with Lurelin Village — Lurelin is directly above a Faron Depths entry point; after your Depths run, warp to Lurelin for the surface questline
  • Dragon's Tears note — The #11 Dragon's Tears geoglyph is located in south Faron surface (near Lurelin); while you're in the area for Faron Depths, grab this memory if you haven't
  • Dracozu Dragon hint — The Dracozu River (above the Dracozu Chasm entry) is shaped like a dragon — following it leads to the Zonai ruins area with valuable lore on the dragons
  • Low urgency region — Faron Depths has no time pressure mechanics, no lava, and minimal Gloom. Use it as a relaxing farming session between more intense Depths runs
