Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1

Start the Quest with Impa

Speak with Impa at New Serenne Stable in Central Hyrule (near the Forgotten Temple). She has discovered the ancient geoglyphs visible from above and needs help reaching one via hot-air balloon. Help her ascend by attaching a Flame Emitter to the balloon basket with Ultrahand, then ride up together to view the first geoglyph.

2

Locate All 12 Geoglyphs

Each geoglyph is a massive ground drawing visible from the sky. The Dragon's Tear (glowing puddle) is located within each geoglyph — usually at the eye or focal point of the drawing. Use Skyview Towers to launch into the air and spot geoglyphs from above. The geoglyphs are spread across: East Akkala Plain, Eldin Mountains, Lanayru Wetlands, Hyrule Ridge, Tabantha, Gerudo Highlands, Gerudo Desert, West Necluda, North Hyrule Plain, Rauru Settlement Ruins, Deplian Badlands, and Rist Peninsula.

3

Touch Each Dragon's Tear

Land within each geoglyph and look for the glowing tear puddle on the ground. Walk into it to trigger a memory cutscene showing Zelda's journey through time during the Imprisoning War. The memories reveal: Zelda arriving in the ancient past, meeting Rauru and Sonia, the rise of Ganondorf, the Imprisoning War, and Zelda's decision to swallow a secret stone and transform into the Light Dragon.

4

Recommended Memory Order

While memories can be viewed in any order, the intended chronological order provides the best story experience: 1) Rauru and Sonia, 2) The Awakening, 3) Mineru's Counsel, 4) The Geoglyphs, 5) Zelda and Sonia, 6) Sonia Is Caught by Treachery, 7) A Show of Fealty, 8) The Gerudo Assault, 9) A King's Duty, 10) Zelda's Wish, 11) Tears of the Dragon, 12) The Master Sword (secret).

5

Find the Secret 13th Tear

After collecting all 12 tears, a secret 13th location appears at the geoglyph near the Rist Peninsula in Akkala. This final tear reveals the complete truth about Zelda's sacrifice — she transformed herself into the Light Dragon to preserve the Master Sword across millennia for Link to find. This memory unlocks the Trail of the Master Sword quest.

6

Claim Your Reward

Completing all Dragon's Tears gives you the full memory sequence in your Adventure Log. The Master Sword quest marker appears on your map pointing to the Light Dragon circling high above Hyrule. You now have all the story context needed for the game's ending.

Pro Tips

1

Main quests cannot be missed. Take your time exploring the area before advancing the story.

2

Talk to every NPC in the area before and after quest events for bonus dialogue and hints.

3

Save frequently during this quest — some story sequences have tough combat encounters with no checkpoints.

4

Cook Hearty meals to gain temporary bonus hearts. Hearty Durians are the most efficient.

5

Consider equipping the Fierce Deity Set or Barbarian Armor for maximum attack power before the hardest encounters.

6

Use your Purah Pad Sensor+ to track quest-related items and materials as you explore.
