Who Goes There?

Speak with the Night Guard

At Lookout Landing, find the night guard patrolling the settlement perimeter after dark. He reports seeing shadowy figures sneaking between buildings in the early morning hours and is worried they might be Yiga Clan infiltrators or monsters in disguise. He asks Link to investigate by waiting near the eastern storage buildings where the figures were last spotted around midnight.

Wait Until Midnight and Observe

Rest at a campfire or the inn until nighttime, then position yourself near the eastern storage buildings the guard mentioned. Wait quietly until midnight when three cloaked figures emerge from behind the supply crates. They move cautiously and whisper to each other. Approach them carefully — they startle easily and will flee if Link runs toward them.

Talk to the Displaced Villagers

When Link approaches calmly, the figures reveal themselves as a family of three from a village near Hyrule Castle that was destroyed during the Upheaval. They have been sneaking into Lookout Landing at night to scavenge food from storage because they were too afraid to ask for help openly. The mother explains they lost everything and have been sleeping in a cave outside the settlement walls.

Escort Them to the Settlement Leader

Reassure the family that Lookout Landing welcomes refugees and escort them to speak with the settlement coordinator. A brief cutscene shows the family being welcomed with blankets and a hot meal. The night guard apologizes for the alarm and rewards Link with 50 Rupees and an Amber gemstone. The family becomes permanent residents and can be found at the refugee camp during daytime.
