Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1
Register with the Researcher at Lookout Landing
Find Researchers Josha and Robbie at Lookout Landing's basement research station. Josha is building a pre-Upheaval Zonai engineering archive and needs photographic documentation of active Zonai devices. She gives you a list of twelve target devices and their approximate regions. The Purah Pad's Camera function is required — make sure it is unlocked before beginning. Each successful photo earns 25 Rupees, with a 300-Rupee completion bonus.
2
Photograph Sky Island Devices
Travel to the Great Sky Island and surrounding sky archipelagos to photograph Zonai fans, flame emitters, and beam emitters. Ascend via Skyview Towers and use paragliders to hop between islands. Most devices are clearly visible on open platforms — stand close enough to trigger the camera focus, which outlines the device in yellow. Take photos in good lighting to receive full credit; Josha rejects blurry or overexposed shots.
3
Photograph Surface and Depths Devices
Return to the surface and Depths for the remaining device types: Zonai rockets on Lanayru sky platforms, Zonai cart systems near Akkala and Eldin, and Zonai wing gliders near Necluda sky clusters. For Depths devices, equip a Pony Point-enhanced lamp and Brightbloom Seeds to maintain visibility. The Sensor upgrade from Robbie helps ping nearby Zonai device locations once half the photos are submitted.
4
Submit All Twelve Photos for Final Reward
Return to Josha after photographing all twelve device types. She reviews each image systematically and awards incremental rupees for each accepted photo. On the final submission, a brief cutscene shows her cataloguing the collection. The Sensor upgrade she provides allows the Purah Pad to ping nearby materials or enemies of a type you've previously photographed — invaluable for material farming in the late game.
