Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1

Find the Festival Organizer Telma Outside Hateno Village

Telma stands at the main road junction outside Hateno Village, frantically checking a list. She explains that the Lantern Festival is tonight — but during the Upheaval, the lantern sticks that power the sky lanterns were scattered by a Bokoblin raid that swept through the surrounding hills. She needs all 15 sticks recovered before sunset or the festival cannot proceed.

2

Search the Hills South and East of Hateno

The lantern sticks are wooden poles about two meters long with a distinctive red ribbon tied to one end. They glow faintly in the Hateno sunset light. Eight are scattered across the southern hill terraces and seven more are in the eastern grazing fields toward Kitano Bay. Use the Sensor+ set to "wooden pole" if available, or scan visually from elevated positions to spot the ribbons against the grass.

3

Collect All 15 Lantern Sticks

Use Ultrahand to grab each stick and deposit them in Link's carrying capacity — each stick is counted individually when brought back to Telma. The hills have no monsters but the fields near Kitano Bay have a Lizalfos patrol that must be avoided or dispatched. Four sticks in the eastern field have fallen into a shallow pond — dive in and retrieve them before they waterlog and become unusable.

4

Return the Sticks and Attend the Festival

Deliver all 15 lantern sticks to Telma before the sunset timer expires. She assembles the sky lanterns with practiced speed and the festival launches on schedule. The sky above Hateno fills with glowing lanterns drifting toward the sea — a genuinely beautiful in-game spectacle. Telma rewards Link with Rupees, festival food, and a personal decorative Lantern item that Link can place in his house at Hateno.
