Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Proving Grounds: Beginner.
- Kamizun Shrine is in Central Hyrule near Lookout Landing and serves as the game's first real combat tutorial shrine.
- All your equipment is temporarily removed.
- Step 1: Collect the Construct Sword and three arrows from the pedestal near the entrance.
- Do not skip the arrows — they are critical for staggering.
- Step 2: A single Construct Soldier patrols the small arena.
- It telegraphs every attack with a clear wind-up animation (its arm pulls back for about 1 second).
- Sidestep the swing and immediately counterattack with one sword strike.
- Do not attempt multiple hits — one strike, then dodge out.
- Step 3: After taking three hits, the Construct switches to a spin attack (it hunches and begins rotating).
- Back away to safe distance and wait for the spin to end — it lasts about 3 seconds.
- Once it stops, close in and deliver three more strikes.
- Step 4: If you need breathing room at any point, fire an arrow at the Construct's head to stagger it and reset its attack pattern.
- The altar unlocks when the Construct falls.
- Pro tip: This shrine teaches the fundamental combat rhythm of TotK — observe the wind-up, dodge, punish with one hit, retreat.
- This pattern works on nearly every enemy in the game.
- Mastering it here makes every future combat shrine significantly easier.
- Hidden chest: After defeating the Construct, check behind the starting pedestal.
- A small chest with a Construct Shield is easy to miss.
