Steering Stick
Description
The most essential control device for any Zonai vehicle. A Steering Stick allows Link to mount a vehicle, grab the controls, and steer all attached propulsion devices (fans, wheels, rockets) from a seated position. Without a Steering Stick, vehicles move in one fixed direction indefinitely. The Steering Stick must be placed last and oriented in the direction you want to drive — it defines the vehicle's forward direction. Powers from the Energy Cell and is the control interface for every complex build from the hoverbike to battle wagons to airplane designs. Found in Capsule Dispensers on most Sky Island areas.
Best Uses
Hoverbike control: the center component of the 2-Fan hoverbike — the most important build in the game
Any multi-device vehicle requiring directional control and driver input
Controlled boats and watercraft on lakes and rivers
Battle wagons with aimed weaponry and forward direction control
Airplane builds (wing + fans + Steering Stick for powered aircraft)
Submarine builds: Steering Stick on an underwater vehicle lets you pilot it beneath the surface
Pro Tips
*
Always place the Steering Stick LAST on your build, facing the direction you want to drive.
*
The Steering Stick controls ALL attached fans and wheels simultaneously based on its orientation.
*
You can dismount and remount the Steering Stick mid-flight without the vehicle crashing.
*
Rotate the Steering Stick handle 90 degrees to change the vehicle's default driving axis — useful for sideways vehicles.
*
Energy note: the Steering Stick itself also draws from the Energy Cell when mounted — factor this into battery calculations.
*
Gotcha: if your hoverbike keeps spinning in circles, the fans are not balanced on both sides of the Steering Stick.
*
Advanced: two Steering Sticks on a vehicle with one facing each direction lets you switch between forward and reverse modes.
