Spring of Courage — Faron's Sacred Waters

The Spring of Courage is the sacred spring in the Faron region — one of three divine springs dedicated to the Triforce goddesses. Located in dense jungle south of Lake Hylia, it is connected to Farosh, the Lightning Dragon, who circles the Faron region on its flight path. The spring is a key intercept point for Farosh farming and plays a role in the three sacred springs sidequest.

Location

South Faron — Dracozu River area

The Spring of Courage is hidden within the Dracozu River valley, inside a cave structure at the end of the river's serpentine path. The river itself is shaped like a dragon (a deliberate design reflecting the area's lore), and following it leads directly to the spring.

| Route | Notes | |-------|-------| | Follow Dracozu River south | Follow the dragon-shaped river from Floria Bridge to its mouth | | Warp to Popla Foothills Skyview Tower | Launch and glide southwest into the jungle | | Faron Cave approach | Enter from the cave at the river's southern terminus |

Farosh and the Spring

Farosh (the Lightning Dragon) regularly passes over the Spring of Courage during its Faron circuit. This makes the spring one of the best farming spots for:

  • Farosh Scale — body scales, cheapest to farm
  • Farosh Claw — feet claws
  • Farosh Fang — teeth, useful for arrow fusion
  • Farosh Horn — highest-value farming target

Advantage of spring as farming location: The spring is in a sheltered ravine, which means Farosh passes at a lower altitude here than over open Faron — making arrow shots more accurate and part retrieval easier (parts fall into the ravine rather than distant lake areas).

The Three Sacred Springs Quest

The three springs (Wisdom, Power, Courage) are connected through a sidequest that begins when you first pray at any spring. At the Spring of Courage:

  1. Find the ancient tablet beside the spring pool
  2. Read it to trigger awareness of the three-spring connection
  3. Pray at the spring (interact with the pool edge) — spawns a chest with a special reward
  4. Complete all three springs for the full quest reward

Spring of Courage specific reward: Chest contains a Swift Violet (rare ingredient) and a piece of the Sacred Spring Set armor (spring-specific lore armor with minor defense bonuses).

Farosh Farming at the Spring — Best Technique

  1. Set up camp at the spring (cook a meal, rest until target time)
  2. Farosh passes most predictably at dawn and dusk in the Faron area
  3. Position yourself on the cave entrance ledge above the spring pool
  4. When Farosh approaches, fire at the target body part (horn is highest on its body — aim high)
  5. Collect the dropped part from the pool or ledge below
  6. Retreat into the cave between Farosh passes to reset positioning

Important: Farosh emits electric discharge when arrows hit it — move away immediately after shooting, or the chain lightning will hit you. The Rubber Armor or Desert Voe set prevents this damage.

Nearby Shrines

Two shrines are near the Spring of Courage area:

| Shrine | Notes | |--------|-------| | Rospolo Shrine | Inside or very near the spring cave — interact with the spring altar first to reveal it | | Dracozu Lake Shrine | At the river mouth area, along the final Dracozu stretch |

Lore: Why This Spring Matters

The Spring of Courage is tied to the goddess Farore and Link's Triforce piece (Courage). In Tears of the Kingdom lore, the spring's water was blessed by Farore during Hyrule's creation. The dragon Farosh acts as a guardian of the spring — its circular flight path around Faron effectively "patrols" the sacred site.

When Zelda traveled to the past with Rauru, her choices and courage during that era are metaphysically connected to this spring — visiting it completes a personal lore arc for players paying close attention to the memory fragments.

Tips

  • Wear Rubber Armor during Farosh farming — the electric discharge from hitting the dragon with arrows becomes a non-issue
  • Don't farm parts every visit — the Dragon's Tears geoglyph #11 is also in south Faron (near Lurelin); combine spring visits with memory collection
  • Camp cook before Farosh intercept — Endura Elixir or Enduring Rice Ball before mounting Farosh (for horn farming) ensures stamina doesn't fail mid-climb
  • The spring pool itself is a save point — creating a manual save here before Farosh farming gives an easy reset if you miss your shot window
