Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1
Travel to Goron City
Head northeast from Lookout Landing toward Death Mountain. Equip the Flamebreaker Armor (purchasable at Goron City or from a traveling Goron merchant near Foothill Stable) to survive the extreme heat. Cross the Eldin Canyon and follow the main road up to Goron City.
2
Investigate the Marbled Rock Roast Crisis
Speak with the Gorons in the city — they are all obsessed with eating Marbled Rock Roast. Find Yunobo at the YunoboCo HQ where he is selling the mysterious rock roasts while wearing a strange mask. He does not recognize Link and attacks when confronted.
3
Chase Yunobo and Break the Mask
Yunobo flees toward Death Mountain. Chase him through three encounters where you must dodge his rolling charge attack, then hit him when he crashes into a wall. After the third hit, the mysterious mask shatters and Yunobo returns to his senses. He joins you as a companion.
4
Enter Death Mountain and Reach the Fire Temple
With Yunobo, enter the mine cart system inside Death Mountain. Use Yunobo's charge ability (press A to aim and launch him) to break through rock walls blocking the minecart tracks. Navigate the lava-filled tunnels, riding minecarts and switching tracks by hitting junction switches with Yunobo's charge.
5
Activate the Five Fire Locks
The Fire Temple is a massive underground forge with lava rivers and rotating platforms. Activate the five gong locks by launching Yunobo into each gong. Key puzzles involve riding lava boats using Ultrahand, rotating bridge sections, and using hydrant Zonai devices to cool lava into walkable rock platforms.
6
Defeat Marbled Gohma (Fire Temple Boss)
Marbled Gohma is a giant rock-armored spider clinging to the ceiling. Launch Yunobo at its legs to shatter the rock armor (aim for the glowing weak points). When enough legs break, Gohma crashes to the floor — attack its exposed eye. In phase 2, Gohma covers itself in explosive marbled rock that must be detonated with Yunobo's charge before attacking. Three cycles defeats it.
7
Claim Your Reward
Yunobo awakens as the Sage of Fire and pledges his vow. You gain Yunobo as a permanent companion whose rolling charge can break ore deposits and rock walls throughout Hyrule. The Marbled Rock Roast addiction ends and Goron City returns to normal, with full shop access restored.
