Quest Overview

The Gerudo Champion's Gauntlet is a grueling five-stage combat trial conducted in the Gerudo Coliseum — an ancient battle arena buried in the Gerudo Highlands. Champion trainer Aveil has reopened the coliseum after the Upheaval and challenges Link to complete all five stages: waves of Lizalfos, a Stalnox, a Hinox, an Igneo Talus, and a Silver Lynel. Completing the gauntlet earns the Gerudo Champion's Blade, the coliseum's prize weapon.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1

Register for the Gauntlet with Aveil

Aveil stands at the coliseum entrance in the Gerudo Highlands. The Gerudo Champion's Gauntlet is a five-stage trial by combat used historically to select Gerudo champions. It was suspended during the Calamity era and remained dormant until Aveil decided to restore it post-Upheaval as a morale event. Entry is open to any champion — male or female, Hylian or Gerudo. Link registers. Aveil recommends at minimum: Lynel Saber Horn fused weapons, 20+ arrows, and three fairies.

2

Stage 1 — The Lizalfos Wave

Six Lizalfos (two Fire, two Ice, two Electric) enter from the arena gates simultaneously. Fight all six at once in a small arena space — or use the terrain. Bomb Flowers placed strategically stagger groups. The Lizalfos attack in coordinated flanks after the first 30 seconds — split them by drawing a flanking pair out early with a single arrow shot. Clear all six within three minutes or an additional wave spawns.

3

Stage 2 and 3 — Stalnox then Hinox

Stage 2: A Stalnox enters from the north gate. Shoot the eye with arrows from range — three headshots stagger it. While staggered, melee the skeleton body. When reduced to half health the Stalnox's body collapses and the eye rolls free — pick it up with Ultrahand and throw it back to force another stagger. Stage 3: A Black Hinox immediately follows. Shoot the eye pendant from range to stagger it, then melee during the stagger window. The Hinox's pendant sometimes contains a chest — collect it.

4

Stage 4 — The Igneo Talus

An Igneo Talus rises from the arena floor through a lava vent. Maximum Fireproof gear required for this stage — the Talus periodically erupts lava across the arena floor. Ice Arrows to the ore deposit stun it and cool the lava patches. Target the back deposit (above the rear shell) for 3x damage. When stunned, climb the Talus body and melee the deposit directly. Three stuns defeat the Igneo Talus.

5

Stage 5 — The Silver Lynel Final

A Silver Lynel is released into the arena. This is the gauntlet's defining stage — a full Silver Lynel fight in an enclosed space with no retreat option. Standard Silver Lynel strategy: headshot arrows to stagger, mount during stagger, melee the mane. Bomb Flowers to interrupt charge attacks. Lynel Saber Horn weapon for maximum damage during mount windows. Defeating the Silver Lynel ends the gauntlet. Aveil enters the arena and presents the Gerudo Champion's Blade and a Desert Voe Headband.
