Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Step 1: Soryotanog Shrine in the Gerudo region has a unique two-part challenge — finding the shrine entrance and then solving the interior puzzle.
- The entrance is buried under the perpetual Gerudo sandstorm in the East Barrens and is completely invisible to the naked eye.
- Activate your Shrine Sensor from the Purah Pad if you have not already — it beeps faster as you approach shrine locations.
- Step 2: Follow the Shrine Sensor's beeping into the sandstorm, heading southeast from the Gerudo Canyon Stable.
- The beeping intensifies and reaches maximum frequency when you are standing directly above the buried entrance.
- The shrine is approximately 2 meters below the sand surface.
- Step 3: Use Ultrahand on the sand around your feet — specifically, grab and pull upward on the compacted sand blocks.
- After clearing a roughly 3-meter radius area (pull away four to five sand blocks), the shrine's entrance stone is revealed — a circular stone platform with the familiar green glow.
- Interact with it to open the shrine and descend.
- Step 4: Inside the shrine, the puzzle continues the buried theme.
- Three switches are hidden beneath sand mounds scattered across the chamber floor.
- The mounds look like small hills of sand, each about 1 meter tall.
- Use Ultrahand to grab each sand mound and pull it upward — the mound lifts away, revealing a floor switch beneath.
- Step 5: Activate all three switches by stepping on them or placing objects on them.
- Switch 1 is near the entrance (front-left mound).
- Switch 2 is in the center of the room (largest mound).
- Switch 3 is near the back wall (smallest mound, easy to mistake for decoration).
- When all three switches are depressed simultaneously, the altar gate opens.
- Note: you cannot stand on all three at once, so use the two pulled sand mound blocks as weights — place one on Switch 1 and one on Switch 2, then stand on Switch 3 yourself.
- Step 6: A chest hidden in the wall behind the largest sand mound contains a Gerudo Spear (16 attack power with fast attack speed).
- Claim it and the Light of Blessing at the altar.
- Abilities needed: Ultrahand (sand removal, mound lifting, block placement).
- Pro tip: The Gerudo sandstorm drains stamina faster than normal environments.
- Wear the Desert Voe armor set for heat resistance and cook Enduring Elixirs before the trip to ensure you have stamina to spare during the Ultrahand excavation work.
