Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower

Located in the dramatic Gerudo Canyon region between the Gerudo Wasteland and Central Hyrule, this tower requires moving a large stone slab to expose its ground-level entrance hatch. Map region unlocked: The Gerudo Canyon area, southern desert approaches, Kara Kara Bazaar region, and the northern corridor toward Gerudo Town. The canyon itself is a spectacular geological formation — rust-red sandstone cliffs layered in ancient sediment strata, carved over millennia by the ancient Gerudo River. The stone slab entrance puzzle is the only barrier, but the canyon terrain itself presents natural obstacles including a Molduga that patrols the sandy valley floor below. The tower provides critical map coverage of the southern desert region and serves as a fast-travel shortcut between the Gerudo regions and Central Hyrule. Sandstorm patterns in the canyon during late afternoon can briefly reduce visibility. Cactus Thorn plants grow directly from the canyon walls and are useful for heat-resist elixir recipes. A Molduga (massive sand-swimming boss creature) patrols the sandy valley floor below the canyon — avoidable on the cliff paths, but worth defeating for Monster Guts and rare materials. The tower is the best high-ground launch point for surveying the Gerudo Wasteland and the Voe-restricted Gerudo Town below.

Activation Puzzle Walkthrough

1

The Obstacle

A large, heavy stone slab has settled over the tower's ground-level access hatch, completely sealing the main entrance from below. The slab is too heavy for Link to lift or push without Ultrahand assistance. Standard approaches to the tower are blocked — the door is underneath the slab and inaccessible.

2

The Solution

Primary method: Use Ultrahand to grab the heavy stone slab from any side and move it laterally away from the access hatch. The slab slides off cleanly — drop it anywhere nearby. Drop through the now-exposed access hatch into the tower interior and activate the terminal. Secondary method: There is also a side entrance partway up the canyon cliff face — a narrow ledge on the eastern canyon wall leads to a secondary door that was not sealed by the stone slab. From the cliff ledge, paraglide across to the side door opening in the tower exterior and enter from above. Either method works — the slab removal is faster. Map region unlocked: Southern Gerudo Canyon, the Gerudo Wasteland approaches, the Kara Kara Bazaar area, and the northern entry corridor to Gerudo Town.

Tips

Find the heavy stone slab lying flat over the access hatch at the tower base — it is roughly 3 meters wide and takes one clean Ultrahand grab and drag to move aside.

Alternative entry via the cliff ledge: look for a narrow path partway up the eastern canyon wall that leads to a secondary tower entrance not blocked by the slab — accessible by canyon wall climbing.

A Molduga patrols the sandy floor below the canyon — run to the rocky canyon walls if you accidentally trigger it, since Molduga cannot surface through solid rock. Then ranged-attack with bomb-fused arrows.

Kara Kara Bazaar to the west is the last resupply point before Gerudo Town — stock up on heat-resist food, arrows, and meals here before heading deeper into the desert.

After launching, glide west-southwest to survey Gerudo Town and the Lightning Temple location hidden by the sandstorm — the sandstorm dissipates after completing Riju's quest, revealing the temple.

Gerudo Canyon in afternoon (14:00–18:00) experiences sand haze in the lower canyon areas — navigation is unaffected but visibility drops slightly.

Cactus Thorn clusters grow directly from the canyon walls near the stone slab area — collect them for heat-resist cooking (Cactus Thorn + Hylian Shroom + any meat gives heat resist + a stamina bonus).

The cliff walls have several small ledge caves with Ore Deposit nodes — accessible by gliding from the tower launch to the opposite canyon wall and landing on visible ledge alcoves.
