Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Step 1: Enter Bayge Shrine in the Gerudo region and assess the combat arena.
- Three Sand Bokoblins occupy a wide open desert-themed arena with natural sand dunes providing cover and terrain advantages.
- These are not standard Bokoblins — Sand Bokoblins are faster, can burrow into sand to evade attacks, and deal more damage than their surface counterparts.
- Fighting all three simultaneously is extremely dangerous and likely to result in death for mid-game players.
- Step 2: Use the sand dunes strategically to break line of sight.
- The dunes are tall enough (approximately 3 meters) to completely hide you from enemies on the other side.
- Your strategy is to isolate and eliminate each Bokoblin one at a time.
- Step 3: The leftmost Sand Bokoblin patrols near the arena's west wall.
- Lure it toward you by throwing a pebble (pick up any small rock with A) to the near side of the first dune.
- The impact sound draws the Bokoblin over the dune to investigate, separating it from the other two.
- As it crests the dune, ambush it with a charged two-handed weapon attack.
- Two heavy hits should finish it — these are glass cannons with high attack but moderate health.
- Step 4: The central Sand Bokoblin is the most dangerous of the three — it carries a Gerudo Scimitar (a fast, high-damage weapon).
- Approach the second dune and wait for it to patrol within range.
- When it attacks, use a perfectly timed Shield Bash (press A while holding ZL at the exact moment of impact).
- The bash staggers it and forces it to drop the Gerudo Scimitar.
- Immediately pick up the dropped blade and use it against its former owner — the scimitar's high attack speed lets you land four hits before the Bokoblin recovers.
- Step 5: The rightmost Sand Bokoblin patrols slower than the others, making wider loops around the arena's east side.
- It carries a bow and prefers ranged attacks.
- Climb to the top of the central dune for high ground advantage, then snipe it with bow shots — two headshots stagger it, and a third finishes it.
- The high ground also makes its return fire easier to dodge since arrows lose accuracy at steep upward angles.
- Step 6: Once all three fall, collect their drops (Bokoblin Horns, Fangs, and Guts — all useful Fuse materials).
- The altar is on a stone platform at the arena's far end.
- Claim your Light of Blessing.
- Hidden chest: Behind the first sand dune on the west side, partially buried in sand, a chest contains an Opal (worth 60 rupees).
- Ability needed: No shrine abilities required — pure combat tactics.
- Pro tip: Sand Bokoblins can burrow underground when they detect you at range.
- If one burrows, stand still and watch for the sand trail moving toward you — when it erupts from the sand to attack, the eruption has a 1-second animation during which it is completely vulnerable to a charged attack.
