Stake
Description
A pointed Zonai stake that drives into terrain when struck, creating a permanent fixed anchor point. The key structural device for any construction that must stay in place — without anchoring, bridges and platforms drift when bumped. Stakes work on most terrain including grass, dirt, sand, and stone, but cannot anchor into metal floors or water. They do not consume energy and last indefinitely. Found throughout Sky Island construction areas and dropped by utility-class Zonai Constructs.
Best Uses
Anchoring bridges and platforms to prevent them from shifting under weight
Creating fixed pivot points for rotating constructions (lever arms, spinning platforms)
Securing ground vehicles to prevent rolling on slopes when parked
Structural support columns for tall builds that would otherwise tip
Gondola anchor points for cable-car traversal systems across chasms
Shrine puzzle anchor points when a fixed attachment to terrain is required
Pro Tips
*
Hit a Stake with a weapon to drive it into the ground — just placing it does not anchor it.
*
Stakes anchor anything to the ground permanently. Essential for any bridge spanning a gap.
*
Use two Stakes on either side of a gap with a long board between them for a stable, permanent bridge.
*
Stake + long pole + platform on top = an elevated observation post that stays in place.
*
Gotcha: Stakes cannot anchor into water, metal surfaces, or The Depths floor (Gloom stone). Use Anchor Blocks instead.
*
Advanced: stake one end of a long plank, then push the other end over a gap — creates a drawbridge that pivots on the stake.
