About Giant Horse

An enormous jet-black horse with a blazing orange mane that towers over every other mount in Hyrule. The Giant Horse is a direct descendant of Ganondorf's legendary war steed and is the largest rideable horse in Tears of the Kingdom. Its raw pulling power is unmatched at a perfect 5-star pull rating, but it sacrifices speed and stamina spurs entirely — it has zero spur slots and cannot gallop on command. Instead, it moves at a slow, crushing walk that can trample Bokoblins, Moblins, and small enemies underfoot. The Giant Horse is a statement mount and a lore-rich companion: riding it feels like commanding an ancient force of nature, unstoppable and unyielding. Its intimidating size alone causes weaker enemies to scatter.

Where to Find Giant Horse

Detailed Location

Found in the Faron Grasslands, specifically in the area south of Lake Hylia near the Mounted Archery Camp. The Giant Horse stands alone or among a small herd of regular horses on the grassy hills south of the Highland Stable, near the Safula Hill foothills. It is unmistakably larger than every other horse in the vicinity — head and shoulders above the tallest normal horse. Look between 11 AM and 5 PM in clear weather for the easiest spotting. Best approach: come from the ridge to the north, using stealth armor or a Sneaky Elixir. Coordinates: roughly (-0940, -3370, 65). If it is not there, rest at Highland Stable until morning and check again.

How to Tame Giant Horse

1

Prepare two full stamina wheels before attempting. Eat Endura-boosting meals (Endura Carrot + Energizing ingredients) or carry several Stamina-restoring elixirs. The Giant Horse has the highest soothing requirement in the game.

2

Equip the full Stealth Set (purchased at Kakariko Village) or drink a Sneaky Elixir to approach without spooking the horse.

3

Approach directly from behind, crouching the entire time. Stop and wait if the Giant Horse raises its head — it will resume grazing after a few seconds if you stay still.

4

Mount with A when the prompt appears. The horse will immediately begin violent bucking — brace for 10+ seconds of sustained soothing.

5

Mash L as rapidly as possible. Each press of L consumes stamina. Yellow bonus stamina from meals counts toward the total, so use meals aggressively.

6

If your stamina runs out before the horse is soothed, Link will be thrown and must start over. Eat a stamina-restoring meal mid-tame if needed (open inventory quickly while still on the horse).

7

Once soothed, the horse will settle immediately. Ride it directly south to Highland Stable and register it for 20 Rupees before dismounting.

Unique Traits

Largest rideable horse in Hyrule — towers over all other mounts.

Maximum 5-star pull stat — the strongest horse in the game for hauling and trampling.

Zero stamina spurs — cannot gallop or sprint. Moves at a fixed powerful walking pace.

Can trample and instantly defeat Bokoblins, Blue Bokoblins, Moblins, and Chuchus on contact.

Cannot wear a standard bridle — can only equip the Giant's Bridle (special gear from the stable chain).

Cannot accept directional turns as sharply as regular horses — needs wider turning arcs.

Tied to the lore of Ganondorf's ancient war horse — an artifact of a darker age of Hyrule.

Its fierce temperament means it responds more slowly to steering inputs until fully bonded.

Tips & Advice

Bring two full stamina wheels minimum. If you only have one, eat Endura-boosting food before mounting to get temporary yellow bonus stamina.

Register at Highland Stable immediately after taming — do not risk the horse running off before registration.

Bond level matters: feed the Giant Horse apples or endura carrots after registration to increase bonding and improve steering responsiveness.

Use the Giant Horse for Depths exploration where the slow speed matters less and the trampling power clears paths.

Equip the Giant's Saddle and Giant's Bridle (unlocked through stable Pony Points) to give this horse gear that matches its legendary scale.

The Giant Horse cannot gallop, so do not use it for time-sensitive travel. Swap to a speed horse when crossing long distances quickly.

Malanya the Horse God near Highland Stable can revive the Giant Horse if it dies — essential insurance for this one-of-a-kind mount.
