Quest Overview
Track down the 1,000 Koroks scattered across every region of Hyrule — on the surface, sky islands, and in the Depths. Look for suspicious leaf piles, rock formations arranged in patterns, lonely trees with glowing sparkles, and floating balloon targets. Each found Korok yields a Korok Seed, tradeable to Hestu for inventory expansion slots.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1
Find Hestu and Start the Collection
Hestu, the oversized Korok who manages seed trades, is first encountered on the road near Lindor's Brow or near Lookout Landing early in the game. Speak with him and he will rattle his maracas — this introduces the Korok Seed collection mechanic and unlocks inventory expansion. He later relocates to Korok Forest once you clear the Gloom there. Each seed you bring him can be traded for one additional weapon, bow, or shield slot.
2
Identify Korok Hiding Patterns
Koroks disguise themselves in repeating patterns: (1) Sparkling lights on lone trees or clifftops — approach and examine the sparkle. (2) Suspicious rock or leaf piles on the ground — lift the rock with Ultrahand or stand on the pile. (3) Rock patterns with a missing piece — find and place the matching rock nearby. (4) Flowers that vanish and reappear — follow the sequence quickly. (5) Acorns or targets in hollow logs — shoot with an arrow.
3
Search Sky Islands and the Depths
Roughly 200 of the 1,000 Koroks are on Sky Islands and in the Depths — do not limit your search to the surface. On Sky Islands, look for dandelion puff balls drifting near ledge edges (grab them with Ultrahand before they float away), and rock arrangements on flat platforms. In the Depths, Koroks needing escort back to friends glow orange and must be physically transported using vehicles or carrying them via Ultrahand.
4
Trade Seeds to Hestu for Inventory Slots
Each trade with Hestu costs an escalating number of seeds — 1 seed for the first slot, 2 for the second, and so on, with weapon and shield slots costing more as they stack up. Prioritize expanding your weapon slots first (most impactful given weapon durability in TotK). You do not need all 1,000 seeds — the golden poop reward at 999 seeds is purely cosmetic. Most players get enough expansion from 100–200 seeds.
Pro Tips
1
Listen for the Korok chime when you are near a hidden puzzle. Turn up your sound to help locate them.
2
Some Korok puzzles require two players in co-op thinking — look for a lonely Korok who needs to be reunited with a friend.
3
Use your Purah Pad Sensor+ to track quest-related items and materials as you explore.
