Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1
Prepare for the Final Battle
Before entering Hyrule Castle, ensure maximum preparation: upgrade armor to at least level 3 at Great Fairy fountains, cook 10+ Hearty meals (Hearty Durians for full-heal plus bonus hearts), bring Sundelion meals for Gloom recovery, carry your strongest Fused weapons, and stock up on arrows. The Master Sword is highly recommended but not required. Activate all sage companions.
2
Infiltrate Hyrule Castle
The floating Hyrule Castle can be approached from multiple angles. The most direct path: launch from Lookout Landing's Skyview Tower and glide to the castle. Navigate through Gloom-infected corridors, fighting Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon encounters. Reach the Sanctum at the heart of the castle to find the chasm leading into the Depths below.
3
Descend into the Depths Beneath the Castle
Jump into the massive chasm beneath Hyrule Castle. You freefall into the deepest section of the Depths — a Gloom-saturated cavern leading to Ganondorf's throne room. Light your path with Brightbloom Seeds and be ready for ambushes from powerful Gloom enemies. The descent is linear but atmospheric, building toward the final confrontation.
4
Phase 1: Demon King Ganondorf
Ganondorf fights with a Gloom-infused sword in melee combat. He is fast, aggressive, and uses Flurry Rush-like dodge attacks. Your sage companions assist but Ganondorf can temporarily disable them. Use Perfect Dodge to trigger Flurry Rush, and attack with the Master Sword (which deals massive bonus damage). He has three health bars worth of HP. Midway through, he adds Gloom pools to the arena that damage you on contact.
5
Phase 2: Demon Dragon
After depleting his health, Ganondorf swallows a secret stone and transforms into the massive Demon Dragon. Zelda (as the Light Dragon) carries Link into the sky for an aerial battle. You fight on the Light Dragon's back, diving onto the Demon Dragon to attack glowing weak spots on its body. Strike the glowing Gloom nodes on its back and sides, then reach its head for the final blow. The Master Sword is essential for the killing blow cutscene.
6
Ending and Credits
After defeating the Demon Dragon, a climactic cutscene plays: Rauru and Sonia's spirits help Zelda transform back from dragon form to human. Link catches Zelda as they fall from the sky. The game ends with Hyrule restored, the sages gathered, and Link and Zelda reunited. After credits, your save file is marked with a star and you can continue exploring with the completed quest log.
