Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Step 1: Rakashog Shrine is a Rauru's Blessing shrine in the Gerudo region, unlocked by completing the "Gerudo Highlands Ice Crystal" quest.
- The crystal is located on the Gerudo Highlands plateau — a frozen, windswept mesa at high elevation northeast of Gerudo Town.
- Equip cold-resistant gear (Snowquill Armor or Gerudo Voe armor with a warming meal) before climbing to the plateau, as temperatures drop to Level 2 cold.
- Step 2: On the plateau, locate the crystal — it is encased inside a large ice block approximately 2 meters across, visible as a glowing blue-green shape through the translucent ice.
- The ice block sits near the plateau's eastern edge, beside a cluster of frost-covered boulders.
- Step 3: Melt the ice casing to free the crystal.
- You have several options: fire two Fire Arrows directly at the ice block's center (each arrow cracks the ice further, and the second shatters it completely after about 15 seconds of melting), use a Flame Emitter Zonai device placed against the ice (melts faster but requires battery), or drop a bundle of Wood next to the ice and ignite it with a Flint strike (slowest method, about 30 seconds).
- Step 4: Once the ice shatters, the crystal drops to the ground.
- Grab it immediately with Ultrahand — in the extreme cold, moisture in the air begins forming a new thin ice layer on the crystal within about 60 seconds.
- This refreezing does not fully re-encase it, but it makes the crystal slippery and harder to grip with Ultrahand if you wait too long.
- Step 5: Carry the crystal with Ultrahand toward the receptacle, which is located near the mountain pass lookout point approximately 80 meters south of the ice block's position.
- The path is mostly flat plateau with occasional ice patches — walk carefully to avoid slipping into crevasses.
- Step 6: Place the crystal into the glowing green receptacle ring at the lookout point.
- The shrine materializes with a burst of green light on the overlook platform.
- Enter and walk to the altar — this is a pure Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle or combat inside.
- Claim your Light of Blessing.
- Hidden chest: Inside the shrine, a chest near the altar contains a Sapphire (worth 260 rupees — also needed for Snowquill armor upgrades at Great Fairy Fountains).
- Ability needed: Ultrahand for carrying the crystal.
- Fire Arrows or a flame source for melting ice.
- No abilities used inside the shrine.
- Pro tip: The Gerudo Highlands plateau is home to several rare material spawns (Icy Prime Meat, Chillshroom clusters, and Voltfruit bushes) that do not appear elsewhere.
- While you are up here for the crystal quest, gather materials — they are excellent for cooking cold and electric resistance meals.
