Tera
Location
Found near Woodland Stable in the Great Hyrule Forest region, northwest of Lookout Landing. Tera's fountain is tucked behind a large flower bud just south of the stable, along the road leading toward Eldin. She is the first Great Fairy most players encounter due to the proximity to early-game paths. Her flower bud glows with a warm pink light visible from the road at night. The area around her fountain is lush and forested, with fireflies drifting near the bud at dusk -- a sign of her dormant magic. The coordinates place her at approximately (1058, 1647) on the surface map.
Unlock Quest: Serenade to a Great Fairy
Tera requires a musical serenade to awaken. You must help the Stable Trotters traveling band reach her fountain. The Stable Trotters are a group of wandering musicians who follow the stable circuit -- they believe their performances have the power to stir ancient spirits. Find the band members scattered around Woodland Stable and help them get to the fountain with their instruments. The lead musician, Mastro, waits near the stable entrance and explains the plan. The challenge is building a vehicle large enough to carry multiple passengers comfortably over uneven forest terrain without losing anyone on the bumpy road south.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1
Travel to Woodland Stable, located in the Great Hyrule Forest region northwest of Lookout Landing. The stable sits just outside the Korok Forest approach road.
2
Speak with Mastro, the lead musician near the stable entrance -- he will explain that the Stable Trotters need to perform a serenade for the Great Fairy. He appears nervous but determined.
3
The band needs transportation. Build a vehicle large enough to carry the musicians and their instruments using Ultrahand and Zonai devices (fans, wheels, steering sticks). A flat platform with two rear fans and a steering stick is the standard solution -- add side rails to keep passengers from falling off on the dirt path.
4
Load the musicians onto your vehicle one by one. They will hop on and stay seated as long as the vehicle is stable. Speak to Mastro again once everyone is aboard.
5
Drive them to Tera's fountain, which is a short distance south of the stable. The path has a few gentle rises -- keep your speed moderate to avoid bouncing passengers off. Watch for tree roots on the dirt road that can tip a tall vehicle.
6
Once all band members arrive at the fountain, they will disembark and take positions. The serenade begins automatically and Tera will emerge from her flower bud in a shower of pink petals.
Armor Upgrade Costs — All 4 Tiers
First Upgrade
10 Rupees
The entry-level armor enhancement that increases defense by one star. Requires only the most common monster drops -- Bokoblin Horns, ChuChu Jelly, Keese Wings -- and costs just 10 rupees. Unlocked by awakening any single Great Fairy. The first upgrade provides a meaningful defense improvement for early-game survival and is accessible well before mid-game resources become available. Even one tier of upgrades on your primary armor set reduces damage noticeably against early enemies. Prioritize whichever armor set you are actively wearing when you first reach a Great Fairy.
Example Materials Required
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Bokoblin Horn | x3 |
| Chuchu Jelly | x3 |
| Keese Wing | x3 |
| Monster Extract | x1 |
| Hylian Shroom | x3 |
Second Upgrade
50 Rupees
The second-tier enhancement that doubles the first-upgrade defense bonus. Requires uncommon enemy drops from mid-game regions -- Moblin Horns, Lizalfos Tails, Aerocuda Eyes -- and costs 50 rupees. Requires two Great Fairies to be awakened before this tier becomes available at any fountain. Worth prioritizing for armor sets whose set bonuses activate at two upgrades, such as the Fierce Deity set (increased attack) and the Soldier set (extra defense). Most regional armor sets with elemental bonuses fully activate their resistance effects at tier 2, making this the practical "completion threshold" for utility armor.
Example Materials Required
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Blue Bokoblin Horn | x5 |
| White Chuchu Jelly | x5 |
| Octorok Eyeball | x3 |
| Fire Keese Wing | x3 |
| Hinox Toenail | x2 |
Third Upgrade
200 Rupees
The third-tier enhancement delivering a substantial defense increase that dramatically improves survivability against elite enemies. Materials required include rare drops from Hinox, Lynel, and boss-tier monsters. Costs 200 rupees and requires three Great Fairies awakened. This tier is the critical threshold for activating most four-piece set bonuses and is the target upgrade level for endgame armor preparation. A full set at tier 3 makes even Silver Bokoblin encounters manageable and substantially reduces one-shot risk from Lynel charge attacks. Players tackling Hyrule Castle or the final boss gauntlet should have their main set at tier 3 minimum.
Example Materials Required
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Black Bokoblin Horn | x5 |
| Hinox Guts | x2 |
| Lynel Hoof | x2 |
| White-Maned Lynel Horn | x1 |
| Stalnox Horn | x1 |
Fourth Upgrade (Max)
500 Rupees
The maximum armor enhancement achieving the highest possible defense rating per piece and fully unlocking all set bonus capabilities. Demands the rarest materials in the game -- Dragon Scales, Dragon Claws, Dragon Horn Shards from Farosh/Naydra/Dinraal; White-Maned Lynel Guts; Star Fragments -- plus 500 rupees per upgrade. Requires all four Great Fairies awakened. A late-game investment representing the pinnacle of defensive preparation. For context, a full Phantom Ganon set at tier 4 provides 84 total defense -- among the highest in the game. Dragon part farming via the sky loop method (riding a dragon through the sky islands) is the most efficient route to tier 4 materials. Tier 4 upgrades are worth the investment only for your primary combat set; casual armor can remain at tier 2 or 3.
Example Materials Required
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Silver Lynel Horn | x2 |
| Star Fragment | x2 |
| Shard of Dinraal's Horn | x1 |
| Dragon Fang | x1 |
| Lynel Mace Horn | x1 |
Tips for Tera
1
Tera is typically the first Great Fairy you unlock since the Woodland Stable is close to early-game routes from Lookout Landing. The main road from Lookout Landing runs almost directly past the stable.
2
Build a sturdy vehicle with at least two fans and a steering stick -- the musicians need a smooth ride and will complain if the vehicle falls apart. A flat rectangular board base with fans at the rear and a steering stick at the center works perfectly.
3
After unlocking Tera, you gain access to Tier 1 upgrades for all armor sets. Return to her often as you collect materials -- even common enemy drops like Bokoblin Horns unlock meaningful defense gains early on.
4
The road from Woodland Stable to Tera's fountain is short but has a few bumps. Use a flat platform with side rails to keep passengers from falling off on the uneven dirt path.
5
Tera is an excellent early-game investment -- even Tier 1 upgrades significantly boost your defense for the Eldin and Woodland areas. Upgrading the Flamebreaker Armor at tier 1 before heading into Death Mountain is especially effective.
6
Tera's fountain glows pink at night, making it easy to spot from the road. If you pass by after dark and see pink light through the trees, you have found her.
7
The Stable Trotters quest chain is shared across all four Great Fairies -- once you unlock Tera, Mastro mentions the other Great Fairies and suggests visiting each stable on the circuit.
8
Lore note: Tera is the Great Fairy of the Woodland region and has been tending the northern forests long before Hyrule's current age. Her connection to Korok Forest runs deep -- some Koroks leave offerings near her fountain during certain seasons.
