Solid Black Horse (Northern)
About Solid Black Horse (Northern)
A sleek wild horse with a jet-black coat found in the northern and more rugged regions of Hyrule. Northern black horses differ slightly from the western solid black horses — they tend to have more balanced speed and pull profiles (4/4 rather than 5/2) and appear in the hillier terrain of Akkala and Tabantha. Their dark coat blends with the shadowed cliffs and pine forests of the north, and they carry themselves with a confidence that reflects the tougher environment. Above-average speed and pull make them versatile mounts suitable for both travel and combat trampling.
Where to Find Solid Black Horse (Northern)
Detailed Location
Northern black horses concentrate in the rugged northern zones. Most reliable spawns: the Akkala Highlands near East Akkala Stable and the cliffs above Skull Lake, the Tabantha Frontier between Tabantha Bridge Stable and the Rito Stable, and the North Hyrule plains near the Typhlo Ruins approach. They often appear as solo horses or in small pairs rather than large herds. Morning scouting from high ground (use a tower or cliff edge to scan the fields below with your bow zoom) is the most efficient search method.
How to Tame Solid Black Horse (Northern)
1
Wild temperament — requires roughly one full stamina wheel. Standard taming approach.
2
Stealth approach is important — northern black horses are alert due to the naturally tougher enemy environment they share.
3
Mount quickly and mash L persistently. Wild temperament settles in about the same time as standard wild horses.
4
Worth the effort for the above-average 4/4 speed and pull profile.
Unique Traits
•
Jet-black coat — striking and dramatic in the pine forests and shadow-heavy terrain of the north.
•
Above-average speed (4) and pull (4) for a wild horse — better all-around combat and travel stats than average.
•
Wild temperament gives slightly more dramatic reactions to direction changes at low bond.
•
Looks excellent with dark-themed or combat-oriented stable gear.
Tips & Advice
•
One of the best non-unique wild mounts for balanced combat and exploration — 4 speed and 4 pull is a strong everyday profile.
•
The black coat complements dark armor sets: Depths armor, Phantom Ganon armor, Barbarian set.
•
4-star pull means it can trample smaller enemies effectively even without the Giant Horse's crushing mass.
•
Register at East Akkala Stable when found in Akkala — centrally located for north Hyrule exploration.
