Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1

Awaken on the Great Sky Island

Link wakes up in the Room of Awakening on the Great Sky Island with a mysterious right arm replacing his original one. Exit the chamber and follow the path through the misty ruins. The island floats high above Hyrule, and you must complete a series of trials before you can descend to the surface world below.

2

Acquire Ultrahand at the Ukouh Shrine

Follow the path to the first shrine, Ukouh. Inside, Rauru's spirit grants you the Ultrahand ability — the power to grab, move, and attach objects together. Complete the shrine puzzle by using Ultrahand to build a bridge from loose planks, then attach a hook to a rail to ride across a gap. This ability is foundational for all construction throughout the game.

3

Acquire Fuse at the In-isa Shrine

The second shrine teaches the Fuse ability — attaching materials to weapons, shields, and arrows to enhance their power and add elemental effects. Practice by fusing a Boulder to a stick to create a powerful hammer, then fuse a Fire Fruit to an arrow to burn through thorny vines blocking the shrine exit. Fuse transforms weak starter weapons into viable combat tools.

4

Acquire Ascend at the Gutanbac Shrine

At the third shrine, learn the Ascend ability — the power to phase upward through any solid ceiling above Link and emerge on the surface above. Use Ascend to pass through cave ceilings, platform undersides, and building roofs. The shrine puzzle requires ascending through multiple stacked platforms to reach the exit at the top of a vertical chamber.

5

Acquire Recall at the Nachoyah Shrine

The final shrine grants Recall — the ability to reverse an object's movement through time. Practice by using Recall on falling water droplets to ride them upward, and on rotating gears to reverse their direction. This ability is essential for reaching sky islands by reversing falling debris and solving timing-based puzzles throughout Hyrule.

6

Complete the Temple of Time and Descend

With all four abilities unlocked, enter the Temple of Time at the island's summit. Receive the final blessing and a cutscene reveals the full scope of the crisis below. Leap from the edge of the Great Sky Island and use your new Paraglider to glide down to the surface of Hyrule, landing near Lookout Landing to begin your adventure in earnest.
