Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Step 1: Enter Oshozan-u Shrine in the Faron region.
- The theme is Mallet Smash — using a mechanical mallet to launch a steel ball through a floor-level gap into a socket on the far side of a wall.
- A giant stone mallet hangs from an articulated arm fixed to the ceiling, positioned directly over a steel ball resting on a flat platform.
- The target socket is on the far side of a thick wall — the only path for the ball is through a narrow gap at floor level.
- Step 2: Examine the mallet mechanism.
- The arm is hinged at the ceiling and swings freely when pulled.
- The mallet head hangs at rest directly above the ball.
- Use Ultrahand to grab the mallet head and pull it backward (toward you), lifting it into a cocked position.
- The higher you pull it, the more potential energy is stored.
- Step 3: The key is calibrating the swing arc.
- Pull the mallet to approximately 45 degrees from vertical — this is medium power.
- Release the Ultrahand grip and the mallet swings forward under gravity, striking the ball.
- At 45 degrees, the ball rolls across the platform and through the floor-level gap at moderate speed, reaching the socket on the other side.
- Step 4: If the ball overshoots (flies past the socket), you pulled the mallet too high.
- If it stops short (does not reach the gap), you did not pull it high enough.
- The sweet spot is 45 degrees for the ground-level socket.
- Reset by using Ultrahand to retrieve the ball through the gap and reposition it under the mallet.
- Step 5: When the ball seats into the socket, the wall partially retracts, revealing a second room with a chest.
- The chest contains a Mighty Construct Bow (25 attack power, excellent durability for a bow).
- Collect it.
- The altar is in the room beyond, accessible now that the wall has retracted.
- Step 6: Claim the Light of Blessing at the altar.
- Abilities needed: Ultrahand (mallet manipulation, ball retrieval).
- Pro tip: The mallet release timing matters — release Ultrahand at the exact moment you stop pulling, not while still in motion.
- If you release while your hand is still moving, the mallet inherits that movement vector and swings off-axis, causing the ball to veer left or right of the gap.
- A clean stop-then-release gives a straight swing every time.
