Makurukara Shrine

Maren's Tip

Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!

Walkthrough

1. Makurukara Shrine in Faron contains a Silver Lynel — one of the deadliest enemies in all of Tears of the Kingdom.
2. Come prepared with fully upgraded armor, high-damage fused weapons, and at least 10 cooked meals.
3. Step 1: Before engaging, equip the Barbarian Armor set (or any attack-boosting gear) and eat an attack-up meal.
4. The Silver Lynel has enormous health (6000+ HP) and hits for 40+ damage per swing.
5. Step 2: The Lynel opens with a charge attack.
6. Perform a backflip dodge at the last moment to trigger Flurry Rush — land all five hits during slow-motion for massive damage.
7. This is your primary damage window.
8. Step 3: When the Lynel rears on its hind legs (preparing a ground slam), run behind it and press A to mount.
9. While mounted, you get 5 free melee strikes that do not consume weapon durability — use your highest-damage weapon during mounts.
10. Step 4: When the Lynel breathes fire in a sweeping arc, sprint perpendicular to the flame sweep (not away from it).
11. Running sideways lets you avoid the entire flame cone.
12. Step 5: The optimal kill pattern is: trigger Flurry Rush, mount for free hits, repeat.
13. Three full mount-and-flurry cycles should deplete its health.
14. Do not attempt to trade hits — the Lynel will outdamage you in a slugfest.
15. Hidden chest: After the Lynel falls, a chest containing a Savage Lynel Shield appears near the altar — the strongest shield type in the game.
16. Pro tip: Shoot the Lynel in the face with an arrow while it charges to stagger it and create an extra mount opportunity.
