Upland Zorana Skyview Tower
Located in the Upland Zorana area northeast of Zora's Domain, this tower is blocked by gray Sludge — the contamination substance central to the Sidon/Zora questline narrative. Map region unlocked: Upland Zorana, the East Reservoir Lake, northeastern Lanayru, and the Lanayru Highlands Sky Island chain. The tower provides essential map coverage of the eastern Lanayru region and is thematically tied to the Sidon questline — activating it mid-questline is narratively satisfying since the Sludge you remove here is the same substance threatening Zora's Domain. The Upland Zorana terrain is dramatic rocky highland with rushing waterfalls visible in every direction and the towering Lanayru peaks to the east. Splash Fruit plants grow abundantly in the immediate vicinity of the tower — a convenient in-world hint from the game designers that water-washing is the solution. The area is actively patrolled by Lizalfos, particularly Electric Lizalfos (more aggressive than the standard variety). From the tower launch, glide northeast to see the Lanayru Highlands Sky Island cluster and identify Zonai Construct locations. The East Reservoir Lake to the northeast is a major water body connected to the Zora questline narrative.
Activation Puzzle Walkthrough
The Obstacle
The tower entrance and lower interior are clogged with thick, gray Sludge — the Gloom-adjacent contamination substance that is central to the Zora's Domain questline. The Sludge forms a solid impenetrable plug over the door and floor of the tower interior. It stains Link's armor on contact and cannot be removed with weapons, fire, or physical force.
The Solution
Use Splash Fruit fused to arrows to shoot water blasts at the Sludge blockage — each water hit dissolves a section of the gray substance. Aim 6–8 Splash Fruit arrows at different parts of the entrance blockage to clear a path wide enough to enter. Alternative methods: Blue Chuchu Jelly (from Blue Chuchus found in rain-heavy areas) thrown directly at the Sludge also washes it away; a Water Hydrant Zonai device placed in front of the entrance sprays continuously and clears a large area. Once the entrance is clear, enter the tower. Check inside for any remaining Sludge near the terminal platform — 1–2 additional Splash Fruit shots at the inner Sludge layer may be needed to fully expose the terminal. Map region unlocked: Upland Zorana, northeastern Lanayru, the East Reservoir Lake, and the Lanayru Highlands Sky Island cluster.
Tips
Splash Fruit grows on plants in the immediate area near the tower base — harvest several before approaching so you have ample washing ammunition without fast-traveling.
Attach Splash Fruit to arrows (fuse in the inventory while aiming) for targeted ranged Sludge removal at the entrance blockage from a safe distance.
Blue Chuchu Jelly (from Blue Chuchus, which appear in rainy areas and near Zora territory) can be thrown directly at Sludge as a backup if you run out of Splash Fruit.
Electric Lizalfos patrol the rocks between the main road and the tower — equip a non-metal shield and use a non-metal weapon to avoid being disarmed by their electric attacks.
Activate this tower during the Zora's Domain / Sidon questline for maximum efficiency — you will already be in the area dealing with Sludge, and this tower reveals the map you need to navigate the questline.
After the entrance is clear, check inside for any remaining Sludge near the terminal itself — a couple extra Splash Fruit shots may be needed at the inner door before the terminal is fully accessible.
From the tower launch, glide northeast toward the visible sky islands above Lanayru for Zonai device dispensers and Construct enemies guarding high-value treasure chests.
The East Reservoir Lake to the northeast is a key location in the Sludge questline — scout its surface and surrounding banks from the air immediately after launching.
