Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower
An obstacle-free tower on the main road to Goron City in the volcanic Eldin region. Map region unlocked: Full Eldin including Death Mountain, the lava field network, Goron City, the Eldin Depths chasm, and the northern Akkala approaches. The Eldin Canyon is one of Hyrule's most geologically active zones — lava flows, volcanic rock formations, sulfurous steam vents, and periodic ash fall define the landscape in the upper canyon. The road to Goron City curves upward from the canyon, and Fire-Breath Lizalfos and Black Bokoblins patrol the higher roads above the tower. The tower sits at a moderate 175-meter altitude in the canyon itself, still below the threshold where Flamebreaker Armor becomes necessary for comfortable travel — though the upper canyon and Death Mountain proper require fire protection. Foothill Stable sits to the south, making it an excellent resupply hub before ascending toward Goron City. The tower is most critically valued as the single best launch point for intercepting Dinraal (fire dragon) at midnight — the dragon emerges from the Eldin Canyon chasm just north of the tower and rises directly overhead at survey altitude.
Activation Puzzle Walkthrough
The Obstacle
No obstacle — the tower entrance is completely unobstructed. No enemies guard the terminal, no physical objects block the door, and the interior is cool enough at canyon altitude that fire resistance is not yet required.
The Solution
Walk directly inside and activate the terminal. The tower is located on the main well-maintained canyon road heading toward Goron City with no monsters at the tower base. Note: while the tower itself presents no puzzle, the surrounding canyon terrain includes Fire-Breath Lizalfos and Black Bokoblins on the roads above — clear the immediate area of any stragglers before entering if you want an uninterrupted activation. Map region unlocked: The full Eldin region including Death Mountain caldera, the surrounding lava field network, the Goron City approaches, and the northern Akkala region entry corridors.
Tips
No fire resistance is needed at the tower itself — heat hazards only become serious higher up toward Goron City and the Death Mountain approach.
Launch from this tower at midnight (00:00 in-game) to intercept Dinraal as it emerges from the Eldin Canyon chasm — this is the most efficient Dinraal farming position in the entire game.
This tower reveals the full Eldin region in one activation — Death Mountain, the surrounding lava fields, and the northern approaches to Akkala are all shown simultaneously.
Foothill Stable to the south sells Flamebreaker Armor components — buy at least one piece before heading deeper into Eldin to manage fire hazards on the approach to Goron City.
Activate this tower before visiting Goron City for the Yunobo questline — it provides the fast-travel point you will use repeatedly during and after that quest.
The chasm visible near the tower is the entrance to the Eldin Depths — a lava-themed underground region with unique mineral deposits and the Depths-variant of Dinraal during its subterranean circuit.
Fire Chuchus and Fire-Breath Lizalfos patrol the canyon walls — equip a fire-resistant shield to block flame breath attacks from both enemy types.
Korok seeds in the canyon are frequently hidden on ledge overhangs above lava flows — use Ultrahand or Ascend to reach elevated platforms rather than attempting to wade through lava.
