Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Find the Three Ancient Windmills

The three windmills are located on rocky peaks within gliding distance of Rito Village, north of the village's highest platform. Each windmill is a large stone-and-wood structure with four blades that have been locked in place by ice or disrepair. A stone marker between them reads: "When all three turn as one, the sleeper shall wake." Activate Tulin as your companion before approaching — his wind gust is required.

Activate Windmill One with Tulin's Gust

Approach the first windmill (closest, to the northwest). Ice from the blizzard aftermath has frozen its blades. Use a Fire Fruit arrow or a Fire Emitter Zonai device to melt the ice, then stand directly in front of the blades and activate Tulin's wind gust ability to start them spinning. The windmill turns slowly but steadily — a chime confirms it is active.

Activate Windmills Two and Three

Windmill two (northeast peak) has a seized gear mechanism — use Ultrahand to manually rotate the gear hub counterclockwise to free it, then Tulin's gust to sustain spin. Windmill three (southern peak) requires building a Zonai fan array nearby: attach two fans to the mill frame pointing at the blades for continuous automated spinning so Tulin's limited ability duration is not a bottleneck. All three must spin simultaneously.

Access Kahatanaum Shrine

When all three windmills spin at once, the wind they generate converges on the central point between them and the ground cracks open to reveal the Kahatanaum Shrine rising on a stone platform. Activate the shrine. Its interior involves wind-channel puzzles — redirect airstreams using Ultrahand-positioned baffles to carry Link and an orb to the final altar. Rewards a Light of Blessing.
