Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1
Find the Trial Entrance in Korok Forest
After reaching Korok Forest and restoring the Great Deku Tree, speak with the Korok trial master Chio standing near a hollow log entrance on the forest's western edge. He explains the ancient Test of Wood: Link must navigate a gauntlet of enemies and obstacles using only wooden equipment. All metal weapons, shields, and bows must be unequipped before entering the trial grounds.
2
Equip Only Wooden Gear
Before entering, unequip all metal equipment and switch to wooden alternatives: a Tree Branch or Wooden Stick as your weapon, a Pot Lid or Wooden Shield for defense, and a Wooden Bow for ranged attacks. If you lack wooden gear, the Koroks near the entrance provide a basic set. Importantly, Fused weapons still count as wooden if the base weapon is wood — fuse a rock onto a branch for extra damage.
3
Navigate the Forest Gauntlet
The trial path winds through a dense section of Korok Forest filled with enemies: Bokoblins wielding clubs, Keese swarms, and ChuChu ambushes. Your wooden weapons break quickly, so fight efficiently — use dodge counters and headshots to conserve durability. Watch for spare wooden weapons on fallen logs and in hollow trees along the path. Fire hazards are the biggest danger as they ignite wooden shields.
4
Reach the Shrine at the Trial's End
At the end of the gauntlet, cross a final wooden bridge guarded by two Blue Bokoblins. Defeat them using the remaining wooden equipment in your inventory — or cleverly lure them off the bridge into the ravine below. Beyond the bridge, the Musanokir Shrine rises from the ground as your reward. Complete the shrine for a Light of Blessing and fast-travel access to Korok Forest.
