Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Step 1: Enter Utsushok Shrine on a Sky Island in the sky region.
- The theme is Long or Wide — rotating an L-shaped beam to match three differently shaped openings.
- This is a pure Ultrahand precision test with no combat and no other abilities required.
- The L-shaped beam is massive (about 4 meters on the long arm, 2 meters on the short arm) and must be guided through each opening without clipping the edges.
- Step 2: Approach Opening 1, which is tall and narrow — approximately 1.5 meters wide and 5 meters tall.
- Grab the L-beam with Ultrahand and rotate it so the long arm points straight up and the short arm extends horizontally at the bottom.
- In this vertical orientation, the beam's narrowest profile faces the opening.
- Push it through slowly and deliberately.
- If any corner touches the opening's edge, the beam bounces back and you must reposition.
- Step 3: In the corridor between Opening 1 and Opening 2, a chest sits in an alcove on the right wall.
- It contains a Topaz (worth 180 rupees).
- Collect it before continuing — once the beam is through Opening 2, you cannot easily backtrack.
- Step 4: Opening 2 is wide and low — approximately 5 meters wide but only 2 meters tall.
- Rotate the L-beam 90 degrees from its previous orientation.
- The long arm should now extend horizontally (left to right) and the short arm should point to the side.
- The beam's profile is now wide but short, matching the squat opening.
- Push it through with even, steady pressure.
- Rushing causes the beam to tilt and clip the top of the opening.
- Step 5: Opening 3 is the final and most challenging — a diagonal slot cut through the wall at approximately 45 degrees.
- Neither the vertical orientation (Opening 1) nor the horizontal orientation (Opening 2) will fit.
- You must tilt the L-beam to a precise 45-degree angle.
- Use Ultrahand's tilt control (not the rotation control) to angle the beam.
- The long arm should point to the upper-right at 45 degrees, with the short arm extending lower-left.
- Step 6: Ease the beam through the diagonal slot with tiny, incremental forward nudges.
- The tolerance is extremely tight — the beam's arms must align within about 10 degrees of the slot's angle.
- If the beam jams (it stops and you hear a thud), pull it back with Ultrahand, adjust the tilt by 2-3 degrees, and try again.
- Most players need three to four attempts to nail the exact angle.
- Step 7: Once through Opening 3, the altar room opens before you.
- Claim the Light of Blessing.
- Abilities needed: Ultrahand (all rotations and positioning).
- Pro tip: The 45-degree angle for Opening 3 is not exact — it is actually about 42 degrees.
- If you set it to a visually perfect 45-degree angle and it jams, try tilting it slightly less.
- The wall slot was cut at a slightly off-angle as a deliberate design trick.
