Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Step 1: Enter Basum Shrine in the Hebra region and prepare for a one-on-one combat trial against a Blue Ice-Wizzrobe — a mid-tier elemental caster enemy that specializes in ice-based ranged attacks.
- Before entering, equip Flamebreaker armor or at minimum one piece of cold-resistant gear to reduce the freezing effect duration if you are hit.
- Alternatively, eat a Spicy Pepper Steak meal for temporary cold resistance.
- Step 2: The Wizzrobe spawns at the far end of the arena and immediately begins hurling ice blocks in your direction.
- These projectiles travel at moderate speed and deal both impact damage and a freezing status effect that immobilizes you for 3 seconds.
- Do not try to tank these hits — dodge sideways or use fire arrows to destroy the ice blocks mid-flight (fire melts them instantly).
- Step 3: The Wizzrobe's key weakness is its teleportation mechanic.
- It can only warp to a new position when you are more than 8 meters away — if you close that distance and stay inside the 8-meter radius, it is stuck in place and forced to use its weaker close-range ice blast instead of ranged projectiles.
- Sprint directly toward it as soon as the fight begins, closing the gap before it can fire more than one or two ice blocks.
- Step 4: Once in melee range, the Wizzrobe attempts a close-range ice blast — a sweeping cone of frost directly in front of it.
- This attack has a clear 1-second wind-up animation (its staff glows bright blue before release).
- Dodge sideways during the wind-up to trigger a Flurry Rush — the slow-motion counter window lets you land five to seven rapid strikes, dealing massive damage.
- Step 5: After the Flurry Rush, the Wizzrobe staggers briefly.
- Follow up immediately with a full five-swing melee combo using your strongest weapon.
- Between the Flurry Rush and the follow-up combo, the Wizzrobe's health should be nearly or fully depleted.
- If it survives, it attempts one more close-range blast — dodge and finish it.
- Step 6: Once the Wizzrobe falls, it drops an Ice Rod weapon (freezes enemies on hit — useful for Eldin volcanic enemies).
- The altar sits directly behind the Wizzrobe's spawn point at the arena's far wall.
- Claim your Light of Blessing.
- Hidden chest: A chest on a raised platform to the left of the arena (visible during the fight) contains a Sapphire (worth 260 rupees).
- Reach it by climbing the platform after the fight.
- Ability needed: No shrine abilities required — this is a pure combat test.
- Pro tip: Fire-element weapons (Fire Rod, Flameblade, or any weapon fused with a Ruby or Fire Fruit) deal double damage to ice enemies.
- If you have one, the Wizzrobe falls in just three or four hits, making this one of the fastest combat shrines in Hebra.
