Great Hyrule Forest
The Great Hyrule Forest is an ancient, mysterious woodland in the heart of northern Hyrule, wreathed in mist and legend. At its center lies Korok Forest — a hidden grove accessible only by navigating the Lost Woods, a labyrinthine forest path that magically teleports anyone who strays from the correct route back to the entrance. The Lost Woods maze has been a recurring Zelda location since Ocarina of Time, and in TotK it retains its disorienting quality. Korok Forest is home to the Koroks — small masked forest spirits who created the Korok Seeds scattered across all of Hyrule — and to the Great Deku Tree, an enormous ancient tree with a face who serves as a gentle sage and source of wisdom. In Tears of the Kingdom, both the Great Deku Tree and Korok Forest are afflicted by a Gloom infestation seeping upward from a chasm beneath the forest floor. The Great Deku Tree is in distress and the Koroks are suffering. Link must descend through the chasm into the Depths below and defeat Phantom Ganon to purge the Gloom and restore the forest. After restoration, Hestu — the Korok who expands Link's inventory pouches in exchange for Korok Seeds — permanently relocates to Korok Forest. The forest canopy creates perpetual dappled shadow, and wildlife here is unusually rich in rare mushrooms and forest herbs.

Exploration Tips
Navigate the Lost Woods by following the direction the floating ember particles travel — they always point the correct path.
Clearing the Gloom requires descending through the chasm beneath the Great Deku Tree. The Depths section has multiple Gloom Hands before the Phantom Ganon fight.
After restoring the forest, Hestu relocates permanently to Korok Forest — the most convenient location for bulk Korok Seed exchanges.
The Great Deku Tree can track your total Korok Seed collection progress and offers commentary as you find more.
The forest floor is extremely rich in rare mushrooms, truffles, and acorns — bring a basket (or just collect everything) for cooking.
The Forest Coliseum contains a Lynel — avoid until late game.
