Faron

The lush, tropical Faron region covers the southern coast of Hyrule with dense jungle-like forest, thunderstorm-prone wetlands, and the quiet fishing village of Lurelin nestled in a protected cove on the southern coast. The region is perpetually warm and rainy in the lowlands, creating a verdant environment rich with exotic fruit (Mighty Bananas, Hydromelons), insects, and rare wildlife. The terrain rises from the coast to the grassy Faron Grasslands in the north, which serve as open riding country before the land drops back to the tropical lowlands of the Rabella Wetlands to the southeast. Faron is home to important Zonai Ruins — stone structures and carvings tied to the pre-Hyrule Zonai civilization, providing context for the main story. The Dragon's Tears quest has significant lore footprints in Faron. Lurelin Village was ransacked by a pirate gang and can be fully rebuilt through a substantial side quest that concludes with Link clearing out the pirates and funding reconstruction. Eventide Island offshore is a legendary challenge: Link arrives stripped of all equipment and must survive using only what the island provides. Lake Hylia in the north of the region is the largest single body of water in Hyrule. The Faron sky during clear weather features the most dramatic sunsets in the game — pink and gold over the southern sea.
